WORLD CANCER DAY

You’re Not Alone in This Story

On World Cancer Day, February 4th 2023, exactly one month had passed since I was told I had stage-4 terminal cancer and that I only had 2-3 years left to live.

Today is once more World Cancer Day, and I am still here, past the 3-year maximum I was given, and still very much alive and basically well. I still have cancer, but it is manageable at this point. I am still having various treatments, but at the moment the cancer is retreating!

So I want to celebrate World Cancer Day today with extra special thanks and gratitude. Particulalry to my family and friends and those that have walked this jounrey with me, sat with me, met with me, prayeyed with me. The last thing I have been in this journey is alone!

One of the key things about World Cancer Day on 4th February 2026, is when world pauses to remind every single person touched by cancer that they’re not walking this road alone. People everywhere, from tiny communities to big cities, are talking about cancer not just as a disease but as a lived experience that deserves real connection, real support and real hope.

One thing that researchers and healthcare people keep underscoring, again and again, is something we already feel in our bones: social connection matters. Studies show that a strong support network, especially among cancer patients and survivors, can significantly reduce feelings of isolation, anxiety and depression. Over two-thirds of people living with cancer report that connection with others who truly understand their journey makes a world more bearable.

That’s why community matters. That’s why it isn’t enough just to have medical treatments, informative websites, clinical checklists or bullet points about prevention… it’s vital that people feel seen, heard, and understood by others who are walking the same twists and turns of this journey. Social support strengthens emotional wellbeing, improves coping, and can even impact outcomes in ways that can’t easily be measured with a number on a chart.

There’s a place for you, where people actually get it

Maybe you’ve noticed that most conversations about cancer online feel like shouting into a void. People post their stories and sometimes no one responds, sometimes the replies are awkward or well-intentioned but miss the point… you know the vibe I mean. But imagine if that wasn’t the case. Imagine a place where people actually listen, pray, celebrate the wins with you and support you in the hard bits.

That’s exactly what The Big C in Me community is all about. It’s a space built for people who have cancer, those who’ve had it, and those walking alongside someone who does. In this community you can:

✔️ Join the conversation and be truly heard

✔️ Connect with people who really get the ups and downs

✔️ Ask questions and share real life experiences

✔️ Join live video chats, one-to-one conversations, or group discussions

✔️ Find peace, assurance and genuine hope with others who are walking the path beside you

This isn’t another faceless forum. It’s a place where people don’t just scroll past your words, they feel your story and respond with empathy, insight, prayer, encouragement and lived understanding.

So here’s the invite
